United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Tamara Kormes Morgenstern

Donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2021 by Tamara Kormes Morgenstern, daughter of Karl and Martha Kormes.

Scope and Content

Comprised of materials such as immigration papers, family photographs, and correspondence documenting the donor's sister, Ava (b. 1940), and parents', Karl Kormes (b. 1918) and his first wife Martha (b.1922), experiences in prewar Germany, surviving the Patria bombing, their detainment in the Atlit (or Athlit) detainee camp, living in Tel Aviv, and their immigration to the US in 1946. Also included are Jewish Journal newspaper clippings.
