Biographical History

Alfred Elbau was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1911. He lived in Berlin, Germany, and in Italy at different times in his youth. His family immigrated to the United States in 1940.

Scope and Content

Consists of one student ID and copy of diploma from Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin for Hans Elbau (1934-1935); a German passport for Elbau (1938); two-page typewritten text, apparently by Elbau, urging that other means be found to expedite emigration of Jews from Germany; and "Cedula Consular" from the consulate of Chile in Genoa, Italy, for Elbau, Oct. 1939.
