Acquisition
The pamphlet was acquired by Kurt Grübler by an acquaintance. The certificates were left in the Grübler family home in Vienna, Austria, during the Holocaust and retrieved from the same home by Kurt Grübler ca. 1976 to 1981. Kurt Grübler donated the collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1996.
Scope and Content
The papers consist of a pamphlet issued by the United States Office of War Information entitled "Tale of a City" about the occupation of Warsaw, Poland, by Nazi Germany as well as birth, baptismal, and marriage certificates issued by Catholic churches in Austria and Germany and used by the donor's family to prove their Aryan ancestry.
