Acquisition
"An Approach to the Preparation .." was written ca. July 1945 by Col. Telford Taylor of the General Staff Corps. A copy of the memo was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by William Mandel ca. June 1987. The original memo is found in the Murry C. Bernay Collection at the Library of the University of Wyoming.
Scope and Content
Consists of a copy of "An Approach to the Prosecution Against Axis Criminality" written by Telford Taylor circa July 1945. The memo contains Taylor's description of the basic parts of a war crimes case; the expected accomplishments of the Office of the U.S. Chief of Counsel for War Crimes; an explanation of the "illegal launching" of agressive war acts; and descriptions of the various types of evidence to be sought during investigation.
