The papers were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2020 by Kurt Maier.

Scope and Content

The papers consist of a letter and two photographs relating to the experiences of Kurt Maier and his extended family before and during the Holocaust. The letter, dated September 13, 1941, was sent from Gurs concentration camp in France to Kurt’s grandmother, Sofie Auerbacher, by an older woman. The first photograph, given to Kurt Maier while in Gurs, depicts Lisel Ruth Kling and her mother (both had diptheria). The second photograph depicts Inge Poli.
