Acquisition

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received those papers from Sgt. Bill Leftwich on Sept. 1, 1999. Sgt. Leftwich was a Tank Commander, 1st Platoon. F Co., 92nd Cav. Recon. Sqd.,12th Armored Division. His Army had liberated at Landsberg 2800 allied prisoners from Russia, Belgium, Poland and others countries.

Contains a memoir by Sgt. Bill Leftwich in which he describes how the American Army broke into the camp Hurlach #4 near Landsberg on 28 April, 1945, and liberated 2,800 prisoners.
