Archiwum Akt Nowych

Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Akt Nowych, Poland, Sygn.1508. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in Jan. 2020. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.

Scope and Content

Files of prisoners (Polish Jews) convicted of communist activities; most of them perished during the Holocaust. Files are from the following prisons located in: Kielce, Krasnystaw, Lwów, Piotrków Trybunalski, Płock, Radom, Sanok, Sandomierz, Sieradz, Tarnów, Warszawa-Mokotów, Zamość, Sosnowiec, Koronowo, Wronki, Kalisz, Gniezno, Bydgoszcz-Fordon, Częstochowa.

System of Arrangement

Arranged in seventeen groups of the prison location: 1. Prison Kielce; 2. Prison Krasnystaw.; 3. Prison Lwów; 4. Prison Piotrków Trybunalski; 5. Prison Płock; 6. Prison Radom; 7. Prison Sanok; 8. Prison Sandomierz; 9. Prison Sieradz; 10. Prison Tarnów; 11. Prison Warszawa Mokotów; 12. Prison Zamość; 13. Prison Sosnowiec; 14. Prison Koronowo; 15. Prison Wronki; 16. Prison Kalisz; 17. Prison Częstochowa. Each group of files is organized by the alphabetical order of prisoner's names.
