Biographical History

Polish Workers' Party (KPP) founded on January 5, 1942 in Warsaw by Polish communists from the USSR from the so-called Initiative Group. The PPR military organization was the People's Guard (from January 1944 as the People's Army), its underground newspapers were "Trybuna Wolności" and "Trybuna Chłopska".

Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Akt Nowych, Poland, Sygn.1314. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in Jan. 2020. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.

Scope and Content

Protocols, instructions, appeals, ideological programs, correspondence, reports, diplomatic telegrams, lists of members and other records of the Central Committee of the Polska Partia Robotnicza (KC PPR) and its regional branches in Poland.

Arranged in five groups: 1. Declarations, appeals of the Central Committee of the Polska Partia Robotnicza (KC PPR); 2. Protocols, resolutions, instructions, reports, and correspondence of the KC PPR; 3. Register of the members of the PPR; 4 Diplomatic telegrams of the KC PPR, 1942-1944; 5. Reports, instructions, appeals, correspondence and financial documents of the regional branches of PPR (Regions of Warsaw, Lublin, Kielce, Częstochowa, Kraków, region Śląsko-Dąbrowski,and Łódź)
