Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej-Komisja Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in Jan. 2020. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.

Scope and Content

Minutes, official correspondence, a study entitled "Losses of the Siedlce county during the Nazi occupation", a study about the Treblinka camp based on the investigation materials of the prosecutor Zdzisław Łukaszewicz, testimonies of witnesses and lists of those murdered in the Biała Podlaska, Łuków, Siedlce county, testimony of Piotr Litwiniusz on the mass execution of Jews in the Łomża Podlaska counties, materials on Soviet prisoner-of-war camps in Ostrówek, Kaliłów, Sielczyk, Suchożrebach and Wola Suchożerbska, camp for Italian and French prisoners of war in Siedlce, materials on war criminals in the counties of Biała Podlaska, Garwolin, Radzyń, and Siedlce. Files on germanization of Polish children and displacement from the Zamość region to the city and Siedlce county. Materials about the war graves of Belgian and Dutch citizens, questioning of witnesses about pseudo-medical experiences in KL Ravensbrück.

Arranged in seven groups: 1. Minutes of Committee meetings; 2. Reports and publications; 3. Testimonies of witnesses concerning German crimes in various areas of Poland; 4. Archives of the camps of Soviet, Italian and French prisoners of war, 5. Correspondence and letters concerning war crimes; 6. Correspondence on the Germanization of Polish children, medical experiments in Ravensbrück, and other crimes; 7. Letters coming in and out of the office of the Regional Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes.
