Acquisition

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum collection, gift of Elyssa Castle-Martino and Andrew Martino In memory of Esther Feygel and the Cohen family of Rutki Kossaki who perished in the Holocaust.

Funding Note: The cataloging of this collection has been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Elyssa Castle-Martino donated the Cohen family collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2019. Elyssa Castle-Martino is the granddaughter of Morris Cohen.

Scope and Content

The Cohen family collection consists of postcards sent to Morris Cohen, primarily from his sister-in-law Esther Feyge (Fagel), regarding their family in Rutki-Kossaki, Poland, 1939-1940. The collection includes a postcard sent to Morris Cohen from a family friend in Rutki-Kossaki regarding the murder of family members in 1942.
