Scope and Content
Den judiska sången (The Jewish Song), a symphonic cantata by Moses Pergament (Finland-Sweden;1893-1977). Written in response to war reports—and as an assertion of ethnic pride in the face of local antisemitism—the large scale work for chorus, soloists, and orchestra was given a partial performance in 1944. By the time of its full premiere in Stockholm three years later, Pergament had subtitled the Prelude: “In Memoriam. A lament for the six million Jews who fell victim to the cruelty of the Third Reich.” (Oxford Handbook of Holocaust Studies) Caprice Records RIKS LP 77-78 (1976). Two LPs.
