Scope and Content

First opera on Anne Frank in the Soviet Union. First done in Russian, Hebrew in translation. The opera was performed at USHMM in Russian (not this particular recording). The mono-opera (single character opera) Diary of Anne Frank, op. 60, by Moscow-based Grigori Frid (b. 1915), completed in 1969, waited eight years for its first concert performance, which took place at a distant, provincial venue.
