Biographical History

Żary is a medium-sized city in southwestern Poland. Jews settled there after the Second World War, in 1946, They were mainly repatriates who survived the German occupation in the Soviet Union. The settlers created a Jewish Committee which dealt with the search for relatives, social assistance and other current affairs of the Jewish community.

Source of acquisition is the Żydowski Instytut Historyczny im. Emanuela Ringelbluma Poland, Sygn. 356. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in March 2019.
