Acquisition
Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Source of acquisition is the Arhivele Naţionale ale României (National Archives of Romania). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in Sept. 2015.
Scope and Content
Reports relating to religious cults, the surveillance by the Iron Guard of Adventists and Jews; the confiscation of Jewish-owned land, properties and companies; the elimination of Jews from state jobs, the confiscation of Iron Guard properties by the Romanian government, internment in Târgu Jiu camp; Iron Guard activities in various localities, various complaints against Roma, lists and nominal files of of properties confiscated from Jews in Târgovişte, confiscation of goods from Roma who were deported to Transnistria, the status of Jews and Polish refugees. Records relating to epidemics, corruption, census of nomadic Jews, deportation of Jews, activities of German secret police.

Arranged in four series: 1. Prefecture of the District of Dâmboviţa, 1937-1938 (Reel 3 1-8); 2. Democratic Jewish Committe, Târgovişte, 1948-1949 (Reel #9); 3. Police of the Town of Târgovişte, 1941-1942 (Reel #10); 4. Mayorship of Târgovişte, 1939-1942 (Reel #11).
