Biographical History
Motel Jawerbaum was born in Miedzyrzeck Podlaski, Poland on June 16, 1913. In April 1940, he was deported to a forced labor camp in Biala Podlaska, returned to the ghetto in Miedzyrzec and in the sumer of 1943 he was deported to the Majdanek concentration camp and shortly after he was transferred to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he was tatooed with number 128085. He was imprisoned in Buna Monowitz subcamp. On January 25, 1945. Motel Jawerbaum was transferred to the Mauthausen concentration camp and his prisoner number was 118865; a few days later he was transferred to the sub-camp Melk and later to the Ebensee sub-camp of Mauthausen, where he was liberated in April 1945. Mr. Jawerbaum immigrated to the United States, and married Bessie Greenberg (donor's aunt) in 1956. In 1961 they changed their names to Max and Bessie Yawerbaum. Max Yawerbaum died in October 1965.
