Note(s)

  • Footage from the Anna and Bocko Mayo Collection was featured in the 2016 documentary "Trezoros" directed by Larry Confino and Lawrence Russo. The film illustrates the Greek Sephardic community of Kastoria. Of the 1000 Jews who lived in Kastoria before the Holocaust, only 35 survived. The village described in this film as Horpistah is today a small town of 8,000 people called Argos Orestiko. The market place still exists (only the surrounding buildings are different) and a street market takes place every Tuesday. The place called Do-pia-koos is now Dispilio, a village between Argos Orestiko and the city of Kastoria. A festival takes place every year near the same church shown in the film.
