Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

The medal is zinc and consists of a cross pattee resting on a laurel wreath.The obverse bears the Latin inscription "GRATI PRINCEPTS ET PATRIA, CAROLVS IMP.ET REX." The reverse shows the Austrian and Hungarian Imperial crowns above teh letter "C" with the inscription "VITAM ET SANGVINEM" and the date MDCCCXVI. The medal has a loop at the top and is attached to a red and white striped trifold ribbon.
