Source of acquisition is the Archivio di Stato di Potenza, Italy (State Archive Potenza).The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archives Program in March, 2107.
Scope and Content
Selected records concerning the discrimination and persecution of Jews in Italy in the community of Potenza, including a census of the Jews and records of the Police headquarters relating to citizens of Jewish origin.

Arranged in three series: 1. Preffetura, Gabinetto [Prefecture, Cabinet], 1929-1940 ( File 01: app. 1000 pages); 2. Preffetura, Gabinetto [Prefecture, Cabinet], 1929-1940, (File 02: app. 750 pages; including newspaper clippings from August 1938 on the presence of Jews in all Italian regions following the racial laws); 3. Police in Potenza, Jews [Questura di Potenza, Ebrei], 1938-1947 (Citizens of Jewish origin [Cittadini di orgine Ebraica]: including questionnaires concerning the Jewish question sent by the Ministry of Interior on Sep. 21, 1945 to all prefects of the Kingdom of Italy).
