Acquisition
Source of acquisition is the Landesgericht Klagenfurt (State Court Klagenfurt), Austria. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s International Archives Project in December 2016, and accretion in Feb. 2021. Note: This is an ongoing project. At least one more accretion is expected. Each case has its own cover sheet description, which is included in each electronic folder for each case. At the conclusion of the entire digitization project, we will receive a finding aid in Excel spreadsheet format.
Scope and Content
Postwar court records of Nazi-related cases in the state court of Klagenfurt, Austria for the years 1970 to 1973. The collection includes the case against Ernst Lerch and Helmut Pohl for the murder of 2 million Jews under Aktion Reinhardt, which was dismissed in 1976. Includes also cases of Rudolf Payker and Gerhard Rupp who took part at the execution of 2 members of Gebirgsjaegerregiments 143 in May 1945 in Norway.
