Biographical History
The Katz Ehrenthal Collection is a collection of more than 900 objects depicting Jews and antisemitic and anti-Jewish propaganda from the medieval to the modern era, in Europe, Russia, and the United States. The collection was amassed by Peter Ehrenthal, a Romanian Holocaust survivor, to document the pervasive history of anti-Jewish hatred in Western art, politics and popular culture. It includes crude folk art as well as pieces created by Europe's finest craftsmen, prints and periodical illustrations, posters, paintings, decorative art, and toys and everyday household items decorated with depictions of stereotypical Jewish figures.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Handcolored etching on paper removed from a publication. It depicts a man standing in right facing profile, feet apart, his right hand in the pocket of his black breeches, his left holding a piece of paper above a protruding stomach. He has short, white hair, pink cheeks, and stereotypical Jewish features: thick eyebrows, hooded eyes, a big nose, and very fleshy lips. His black frock coat is open over a matching, buttoned vest and a high-collared, white shirt and neck cloth. He wears a black top hat, stockings, and flat shoes, and his clothing is heavily shaded with cross-hatching. He stands on brown paving stones with a low shadow on the left above the printed title and 1 line of publication information, a second line to the right. There are handwritten markings on the back.
back, center, pencil : Nathan MEYER / ROTHSCHILD / Rubens 2129.
