Biographical History
The Katz Ehrenthal Collection is a collection of more than 900 objects depicting Jews and antisemitic and anti-Jewish propaganda from the medieval to the modern era, in Europe, Russia, and the United States. The collection was amassed by Peter Ehrenthal, a Romanian Holocaust survivor, to document the pervasive history of anti-Jewish hatred in Western art, politics and popular culture. It includes crude folk art as well as pieces created by Europe's finest craftsmen, prints and periodical illustrations, posters, paintings, decorative art, and toys and everyday household items decorated with depictions of stereotypical Jewish figures.
Archival History
The magazine cover was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2016 by the Katz Family.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Magazine cover printed on tan-colored paper and mounted on a white, linen backing. The cover depicts a large, illustrated image of a man’s face, from the neck up, in right-facing profile. He has moderately short, thin black hair with a white patch above his right ear. He has a furrowed forehead and raises his dark, arched eyebrows. He appears sad, a large eye visible beneath a sharply slanted eyelid. His exaggeratedly oversized, hooked nose dominates his face and ends in a bulbous tip that extends out over a bristly mustache and the thick lips of his closed mouth. The image of a fly ringed by Dutch text is overlaid at the center of his nose. His chin and neck appear as fleshy folds just above his collar. He wears a bright red bowtie around the exterior of a high, white collar. The upper edge of a black lapel is visible just below the collar. The space behind the man is filled by a rectangular, black background and bordered by a tan margin on all sides. A Dutch caption is printed beneath the image in black ink. The upper margin is wider than the others and contains several lines of publication information printed in red ink. The man’s head extends above the edge of the background and partially obscures the bottom line of text. The artist’s signature is included within the lower right corner of the image. There are stains and discoloration along the margins, and some wear along the edges.
