Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Kielcach, Poland, Sygn.1040. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the digitized collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in Jan. 2016. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.

Scope and Content

Files of civil and criminal trials with indexes. After World War II, Jewish survivors tried to regain their property in Kielce and certify the deaths of their relatives before the court. Selected archival units contain copies of birth, marriage and death certificates which are attached to the trial files.

Arranged in three series: 1. Civil trials (Selection of files: Call No. 64-1647 and 3193); 2. Indexes (Selection of files: Call No. 1719-1732); 3. Criminal trials (Selection of files: Call No. 1962-2551).
