Biographical History
Bertha Lurey Elston was born in Chicago in 1910. She enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1943, where she worked for the London edition of the newspaper Stars and Stripes. She attended officers candidate school and in July 1945 became second lieutenant. She was discharged in February 1946.
Archival History
The badge was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1994 by the Estate of Bertha Lurey Elston.
