Biographical History

Wolf Szczekacz married Bala Szczekacz and they had two daughers: Pola Szczekacz and Dosia Szczekacz. Wolf fled from Poland to Russia at the beginning of World War II and it is believed he died there. Bala was killed in Auschwitz and Pola and Dosia Szczekacz joined the underground and died in a shootout with the Gestapo.

The photographs were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1999 by Etta Chinkes.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of four black and white portrait photographs. The photographs depict Wolf Szczekacz; his wife, Bala Sczcekacz; and their daughters, Pola and Dosia Szczekacz.
