Biographical History
Fernand Brunetti was a French citizen who was arrested and deported from France to Buchenwald concentration camp. He returned to France after liberation in 1945.
Archival History
The concentration camp uniform was acquired by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2005.

Scope and Content
Prisoner's uniform worn by Fernand Brunetti while imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp from 1942-1945. He was a French citizen, who was arrested and deported for unknown reasons, from France to Buchenwald. After liberation in 1945, he returned to Paris. Around 1946-47, he had a studio portrait taken of himself in this uniform.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
a. Wool and cotton blend twill jacket with blue and gray stripes, hip-length, long sleeves, 5 button holes and 4 black, plastic buttons along the front opening. On the front of the tailored collar is a metal hook and eye closure. On the inside back collar is a black hanger loop. The left breast has an off-white coarse cotton ID patch with black ink: 69370, sewn on with black thread. Above this badge are fragments of white thread that indicate the placement of a previous patch. b. Wool and cotton blend twill pants, with blue and gray stripes, 4 metal suspender buttons, and an adjustable strap, with a black metal buckle, on the back. At the back of the waist is a V shaped slit; on the front are 2 metal suspender buttons and a 3 metal button fly. The 2 side pockets are lined with tan cloth. The pants are lined around the waist with blue cloth and have 4 metal buttons. A number is stamped in black at the waist, inside the right back. The inside back seam has a gray hanger loop.
