Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Postage stamp made of paper, rectangular in shape with scalloped edges and approximately 1 1/16 inches (2.6 cm) tall by 7/8 in (2.2 cm) wide in size. An inked rectangle with image and inscription is found on one side. The ink is purple in color and the inked rectangle is smaller in size than the paper itself leaving an ink free boarder around the edge. The image has a center section and a border section. The border is divided into four rectangular sections, two horizontal and two vertical. The horizontal section at the top of the postage stamp extends the width of the inked image and “Deutsches Reich” is stamped within. The two vertical sections, one on the left and one on the right of the inked image, extend from the base of the top section to the bottom of the inked image. The bottom horizontal section sets between the two vertical sections. Inside the bottom horizontal section is a floral pattern. The center section of the image contains a “50” which is decoratively detailed surrounded by a geometric design. On top of the purple and white image is a black stamped which extends beyond the area of the postage stamp on the bottom, left and right. The black stamp consists of an outer arc starting at the bottom left of the postage stamp and curving to the bottom right. Inside the arc is a slanted straight line that extends from the bottom left corner of the postage stamp to where the arc meets the right edge of the postage stamp. Above the slanted straight line and below the curve “BERLIN SW” is stamped while below the slanted straight line “9-10N” is stamped along with another partial character. Adhesive is found on the other side. The image from the other side is faintly seen in reverse on adhesive side.
