Biographical History
Irving H. Rosenberg, born in 1908 and from Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the United States Army in November 1941. He served as a medic in the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, 4th Armored Division, during World War II. Rosenberg was deployed to France in 1944 and saw action in France and Germany. His battalion is known for its role in the Battle of the Bulge and for the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, in Germany. Rosenberg was wounded in the line of duty during the war and twice commended for his courage and devotion to duty during combat in France in September 1944. Rosenberg is believed to have died in Essex, New Jersey, in the 1980s.

The combat medic pin was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2005 by Lynn Brunskill.

Scope and Content
Medal that belonged to Irving H. Rosenberg who served in the United States Army during World War II. Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Oval, silver colored metal pin. Center design has a stretcher crossed by a caduceus. The stretcher extends beyond both edges. Set over the stretcher is a staff with two snakes intertwined around it. The staff is topped by a cross positioned above unfurled feathered wings and bordered by an oak wreath. There are 2 holes near the bottom edge. A pin is soldered onto the center back.
