Biographical History
Irving H. Rosenberg, born in 1908 and from Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the United States Army in November 1941. He served as a medic in the 46th Armored Medical Battalion, 4th Armored Division, during World War II. Rosenberg was deployed to France in 1944 and saw action in France and Germany. His battalion is known for its role in the Battle of the Bulge and for the liberation of Ohrdruf concentration camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, in Germany. Rosenberg was wounded in the line of duty during the war and twice commended for his courage and devotion to duty during combat in France in September 1944. Rosenberg is believed to have died in Essex, New Jersey, in the 1980s.

The airman's pin was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2005 by Lynn Brunskill.

Scope and Content
U.S. airman's sterling silver wing pin that belonged to Irving H. Rosenberg who served as a medic in the United States Army during World War II. This pin was given to servicemen who had completed flight training. Rosenberg was a medic with the 46th Medical Battalion (Armored), attached to the 4th Armored Division, which, in 1945, liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Sterling silver pin cast in the shape of outspread wings with ridged detailing to resemble individual feathers. The emblem of the U.S. Great Seal is embossed in the center. On the reverse of each wing are clutchback pins and the stamped hallmark and manufacturer's name.
