Scope and Content

Postage stamp issued by the German government to commemorate the 54th birthday of Adolf Hitler on April 20, 1943. It was issued in a series of 6. Designed by Gottfreid Klein, it features a realistic portrait of Hitler in right profile, with a quill, torch, and sword in the borders.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

Rectangular paper stamp with perforated edges and a graphic design in green ink. Front center has a realistic portrait of Adolf Hitler facing right and surrounded by a wreath, flanked on the left by a torch with a swastika and overlaid by a palm branch and on the right by a sword with the Nazi emblem and a swastika. On the lower left side is the date, with German text in lower center border. Denomination 6 is in the top left and +14 is right of center. Reverse is covered with aged yellowed adhesive. Stamp is not canceled.
