Acquisition
Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Source of acquisition is the Arhivele Naţionale ale României (Romanian National Archives),Timiş Branch; Inventory: 173, 186, 222, 573, 649, 828, 830, 1346, 1347, 186, 828, 1196, 706. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection from the Romanian National Archives via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in June 2005 (microfilm reels 1-8), in 2010 (microfilm reels 9-13), in 2018 (microfilm reel 14-21)
Scope and Content
Includes records, mostly from the war years, concerning Jewish matters and the policy of local offices toward Jewish questions. They include selected records from the prefecture of Timiş-Torontal, the Legion of Gendarmerie of the Severin district, the regional police inspectorate and Chief of the municipal police of Timişoara, the police headquarters of Oraşului Lugoj, and the Comitetul Democratic Evreiesc Timisoara.
