Biographical History

Agnes Papier is believed to have been born Agnes Löffler on November 8, 1922 in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary. Agnes Löffler was deported to Auschwitz in 1944, transferred to Dauchau in August, and to Bergen-Belsen in December. She married Holocaust survivor John Papier and immigrated to the United States. Agnes died April 19, 2005 in Pennsylvania.

Acquisition

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Agnes Papier in 1998.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of three photographs of a concentration camp immediately after liberation.
