Biographical History
Henry Galler was a Russian concentration camp prisoner. At the end of 1941, he volunteered to be a soldier in the Polish Army to fight the Germans. He started as a gunner and was promoted to the Commander of Battery with the rank of Lieutenant and received the Medal of Bravery
Eva Vogel Galler was born in Oleszyce, Poland. She survived as a Christian under an assumed name in Germany. On her way to Belzec to be exterminated, she jumped from a cattle car. She went to Krakow and was captured by German soldiers and taken with the farm workers to Austria to work on a farm as a maid.

The papers were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Henry Galler in 1991.
Scope and Content
The papers consist of an identification booklet (Deutsches Reich Arbeitsbuch Fuer Ausländer) issued to Szewa Vogel Galler under the name "Katherina Czuchowska" and an identification card for Polish military officers, issued to Henry Galler.
