Biographical History

Nanette Jakobs-DeVries was born Nanette Martha de Vries on 3 June 1938 in Amersfoort, Netherlands to BM de Vries-Kolthoff and Harry Karol de Vries. She had one brother, Harry David de Vries (1941-1943). The siblings were hidden under the names of Netje Schutte and Hansje Seubering. Nanette’s brother died on 12 December 1944 after contracting diphtheria.

Acquisition

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Nanette Jakobs-DeVries in 2002.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of photographs documenting the Holocaust experiences of Nanette de Vries and her brother David de Vries, both of whom were hidden children in Haarlem, Netherlands. Modern inscriptions are written on the verso in English.
