The medal was awarded to Nahman-Leib Neumann Itzicovici donor's paternal grandfather for his service in the Romanian Army during World War I.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
The medal has a circular body of bronze with relief images of a winged figure holding a sword on the recto and a relief image of a weapon surrounded by a floral wreath, circular chain, and raised text "MARELE RAZBOI/PENTRU/CIVILIZATIE" at center on the verso. Attached at the upper center of the body is a bronze ring with a rainbow ribbon.
