Archival History

Jewish Museum in Prague

Acquisition

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's International Programs Division exchanged the microfilm with the Yad Vashem Archives (YV) in Jerusalem, Israel. Documents originate from the Jewish Museum in Prague (JMP). In 1994 Yad Vashem signed an agreement with the JMP and selected JMP records for microfilming. The JMP prepared the documents for microfilming but microfilming was done by the Central State Archive in Prague in 1994-1995. On the film, titles appear in Czech and German before each file. In 1999-2000 the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum negotiated an agreement with the JMP that allowed YV to make copies of the JMP microfilms for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This agreement was signed early in 2001. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the microfilm in Aug. 2001.
