Biographical History
Ilse M. Thompson was born in Berlin, Germany, ca. 1924. She received sponsorship from the Society of Friends and was able to leave Germany on one of several childrens' transports before the Holocaust began. She arrived in England in Apr 1939. Thompson presently resides in Maple, Ontario, Canada.

Acquisition
"Mutti" is the English-language translation of a German-language diary kept by Ilse Thompson between 1940 and 1946 while living as a German-Jewish refugee in England. The English-language translation was completed by Ilse Thompson in 1991 and a copy was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in Mar 1992.
Scope and Content
Consists of a photocopy of "Mutti" by Ilse M. Thompson. The memoir is an English-language translation of a German-language diary that Ilse Thompson kept from 1940 to 1946, while living as a German-Jewish refugee in the United Kingdom. Included are Thompson's reactions to news about her mother, who had remained in Germany, and to Holocaust events.
