Acquisition
Source of acquisition is the Żydowski Instytut Historyczny im. Emanuela Ringelbluma (ŻIH), Sygn. 208. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the ŻIH via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in 1995.
Scope and Content
Contains registration cards arranged as an index to the names of Jewish prisoners of war (POW) who were recruits from the eastern borderland (Kressy Wschodnie) of prewar Poland, were held in various POW and other camps in the area of Lublin, Poland, and were killed in Majdanek. The registration cards contain information on prisoner names, date and place of birth, parents’ names, and the camp where they were imprisoned. The majority of the registration cards include the prisoners’ mug shots and fingerprints.

The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved in the microfilmed reels. Arranged alphabetically by prisoner names. Reel 1, Abelewicz-Eker; Reel 2, Elberger-Grajzewski; Reel 3, Gram-Katz, Abraham; Reel 4, Katz, Berisz-Lew, Jozef; Reel 5, Lew, Michael-Pfeffer; Reel 6, Pfiffer-Saub; Reel 7, Sawicki-Szybulski; and Reel 8, Szyffman-Zurmonski.
