Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej-Komisja Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu (Institute of National Memory, Main Commission for the Investigation of Crimes Against the Polish Nation), Sygn. 76. Records were selected for the Unites States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in 1993.

Scope and Content

Contains records for selected criminal cases tried before the Sondergericht (special court) in Hohensalza (Inowroclaw), Poland. Included is information about Poles accused of various crimes including arson, robbery, murder, rape, disturbing the peace, the violation of wartime economic laws, the unlawful possession of weapons, assault, and the violation of radio broadcasting laws. The files also contain the names and biographical information of the accused and the verdicts of the court.

The museum has acquired only selected records from Institute of National Remembrance (Instytut Pamięci Narodowej-Komisja Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu, or IPN).
