Biographical History

Hertha Mirabeau was born Hertha Königsberger on 21 August 1879 in Krefeld, Germany to Leopold and Jenny (née Wilmerdörfer) Königsberger. She was deported to Theresienstadt in July 1942. On 23 October 1944 she was sent on Transport 467 to Auschwitz where she perished.

Acquisition

Original of letter was written in Krefeld, Germany in Apr. 1942 by donor's mother-in-law Hertha Mirabeau, to donor's wife before Mrs. Mirabeau's deportation to Terezin. Donor sent the photocopy to Michael Berenbaum, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Project Director, in May 1992. Berenbaum subsequently turned it over to Archives.

The collection consists of a letter written by Hertha Mirabeau (Königsberger) in Krefeld, Germany in April 1942 to her daughter. Hertha was deported to Theresienstadt several months later.
