Biographical History
John Coulston was a captain with the 602nd U.S. Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II. The unit participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was the first unit to enter Ohrdruf. In later years Coulston served as the historian for the 602nd US Tank Destroyer Battalion.

Acquisition
The materials were collected by John Coulston over the years since the Holocaust. Coulston gave them to Martin Glembourtt ca. 1989. They were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives by Martin Glembourtt on 21 Jun. 1991.
Scope and Content
Includes materials collected by U.S. Army Capt. John Coulston concerning the liberation of Ohrdruf and the activities of 602nd U.S. Tank Destroyer Battalion members after World War II. Also included are materials relating to reviews of Holocaust literature, survivors from Auschwitz, the life and work of Henri Abraham, and children who were survivors.
