Peter Gersh (formerly Pinchas Gerszonowicz), a Polish Jew and survivor, was born in Miechów, Poland, on Jan. 21, 1921.

Acquisition
Peter Gersh wrote his memoir ca. 1985. He sent the memoir (all pages appear to be original typescript) apparently to Susan Bachrach, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum I.D. Project, in 1992, and that department forwarded the memoir on to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in Sept. 1992.

Contains information about Peter Gersh's (Pinchas Gerszonowicz) boyhood in Poland; his impression of antisemitism among the Poles; German invasion of Poland; German occupation of Poland; work for the Luftwaffe at an airbase; life in a concentration camp; escape from a death march; search for relatives after World War II; and emigration to the United States.
