Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej-Komisja Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu (Institute of National Remembrance-Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation), Sygn. 169. Various branch offices of the Sicherheitsdienst des Reichsführers SS-SD Leitabschnitt Kattowitz created the reports and sent them to the main office in Kattowitz (Katowice) from ca. 1941to ca. 1944. After World War II, the records were deposited in the archives of the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej. The records were selected for filming and microfilmed during 1992 and 1993. The microfilms were received at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives April 1993.

Scope and Content

Contains reports about the public opinion in various towns in the vicinity of Kattowitz from circa 1941 to circa 1944. The reports contain information about public opinions on economic matters, political matters, Russians, and members of the National Socialist's Russian movement in Germany; the "Day of German Domestic Music"; and recruitment of women into the air defense service.
