Acquisition

Origin of material is obscure. The records were copied for Elie Wiesel by Tuviah Friedmann of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council from NARA RG-260 and RG-338 ca. Mar. 1984. The materials were discovered by Brewster Chamberlin, Director of Archives, ca. Apr. 1986 in the Council offices and transferred to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives.

Scope and Content

Contains photocopies of documents from the National Archives and Records Administration relating to restitution of looted property, gold, and foreign currencies in Austria from 1945 to 1950.
