Biographical History

Samuel Gerstenfeld was born 26 Jan 1920 in Kielce, Poland. He was imprisoned at three camps during the Holocaust, including Auschwitz. He was liberated from Trzebinia.

The memoir was written by Samuel Gerstenfeld ca. 1991. It was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives via Michael Berenbaum, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Project Director, on 21 Dec 1991.

Scope and Content

Consist of a copy of a handwritten memoir by Samuel Gerstenfeld. The memoir describes his experiences of antisemitism in pre-World War II Poland, discrimination against Jews in business and education, his life in the Kielce ghetto, and his escape from the Blizyn camp. The memoir also contains detailed information concerning the Gerstenfeld family genealogy.
