From the Memorial to the Shoah, Jewish Contemporary Documentation Center (Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine), cartons XLIII–XLVa, which acquired this material after 1944.

Scope and Content

Contains records about the activities of the World Jewish Congress in North Africa, antisemitism in the French army, the delegation from Tunisia at the War Emergency Conference, the Cremieux Decree, the German seizure of Jewish assets, German atrocities, the postwar activities of Adolf Eichmann, the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and the interrogations of the International Tribunal in Nuremberg.

System of Arrangement

The collection is divided into two internally unarranged series. The first series, on North Africa, was originally a separate record group called “Divers” (Miscellaneous), while the second series, on the persecution of the Jews in various countries was a record group called “Pays Etrangers” (Foreign Countries).
