Biographical History

Julien D. Saks was a Chemical Warfare Officer for the 12th Armored Division which captured eleven concentration camps satellite to the Dachau concentration camp. He was present at the liberation of Landsberg concentration camp.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received this collection from Lucy-Jane Saks in Oct. 1994. She donated these materials after the death of her husband, Julien D. Saks.

Scope and Content

Contains a captioned replica of a portrait painted by Lucy-Jane W. Saks's husband, Julien D. Saks; testimonials from various publications relating to the death of Lucy-Jane W. Saks' husband and his participation in the liberation of a Kaufering group camp (perhaps Landsberg), a subcamp of Dachau; and five slides.
