Archives départementales d’Ille-et-Vilaine

Acquisition

From the Archives départementales d’Ille-et-Vilaine, France; it is a part of the archival project with the Mémorial de la Shoah, Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine (CDJC), financed in part by the Fondation pour la Memoire de la Shoah. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s International Archives Project in April 2012.

Scope and Content

Contains records kept by the local Feldkommandantur including anti-Jewish measures, declarations of bank holdings of Jews, the aryanization of Jewish property as well as investigations, statistics, and files on Jewish businesses. Includes also records from the Rector of Education on the application of anti-Jewish measures as well as an interesting private collection belonging to the local union of medical doctors concerning the exclusion of Jews from the profession.
