Biographical History

Arthur Jack Leser was born Jakob Leser on 9 March 1908 in Narol, Poland. His father was Benjamin Wolf Leser (b. 1882). He studied medicine at the University of Vienna. He immigrated to England and Scotland in 1938 and to the United States later that year.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Ronald and Raymond Lesser

Ronald and Raymond Lesser donated their father's collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2011.

Scope and Content

Consists of documents and correspondence regarding Jakob Leser (later Arthur Jack Leser), who obtained a medical degree in Vienna, Austria, before emigrating to England, Scotland, and finally the United States in 1938. Includes documentation regarding Dr. Leser's struggle to obtain his licensure and to find employment in the United States as a Jewish refugee physician.
