Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Arhivele Naţionale ale României (Romanian National Archives), Ialomiţa branch, Fond Comitetul Democrat Evreiesc Călăraşi, 1946-1949 Inv: 925, and Fond Pretura Plăşii Slobozia. 1920-1950, Inv. 864. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s International Archives Project in January 2011.

Scope and Content

Contains records from the Democratic Jewish Committee (CDE) of Calarasi, and includes records relating to support for Jewish citizens and reports of activities of CDE. Includes also records from the sub-district of Slobozia, including records relating to the confiscation of goods of Iron Guard movement, instructions regarding registration of Jews, and forced labor of Jews.
