Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Center for the Studies of History and Culture of East European Jewry (Judaica Center) of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Kyiv, Ukraine. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the Judaica Center via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in Jan. 2011.

Scope and Content

Contains letters of Mikhail Rozenfeld written to his family from the front in 1942-1944 describing his service in the Red Army, liberation of the Nazi-occupied territories, family news, etc. Includes also personal documents and correspondence of his widow, letters sent to Soviet government authorities regarding her permission to return and obtain residency permission in Kiev, employment, and other topics.

Organized in two series: 1. Letters of Mikhail Rozenfeld written from the front between 1942-1944; 2. Documents and correspondence of Mikhail Rozenfeld's widow.
